CCX - new tenant?

Postby Guest on Wed Jul 28, 2010 3:54 pm

Anyone know what is going on at CCX. Looks like the signs "for rent" are off the space on Walnut? Any ideas?

The signs are so old and faded they are being replaced.

Yes it's not a very good set up for retail. The TC should have allowed Medical offices.

I have it on good authority that a pawn shop is moving in.

The sign ordinance downtown could be ammended to allow signs to be placed horizontally off the buildings ala Ridgewood. It's hard to read a sign placed on the facade while driving by at 30 mph. This would benefit all the businesses downtown not just Cranford XX. Imagine the posibilities.

Thank You. I was thinking along the line of the pub signs in the U.K.I think,it would be a great look for the downtown.

I also like the pub sign idea for our downtown. It's difficult to see the CCX stores.

I don't know about Cranford Crossing, but I notice that the space next to Golden Touch Jewelers is being made into a separate storefront. It would be nice if it is already rented.

Thank you Guest. Now that we are going with pay stations, replacing the parking meter heads with hitching post heads might be another idea whose time has come. Aside from the esthetics they would be an aid in parking. At $165 each, it is not a budget buster.

Il Giardino has a huge PIZZA flag-sign outside of their store. You can't miss it. I don't think it looks bad, but too many of them on stores would look trashy.

I really don't fear that happening. Not every business will jump on the band wagon. Some in town won't spend the money which is ok. Like anything else, some will and some won't.

As an example,go no further than Marino's or the T.V. repair shop next door. Same signs for years. I also doubt the Mr. LaCorte's stores will change. They already have a style all their own and i doubt that he would look to change it.

Some of the buildings in town don't lend themselves to that particular style. The Redfield & Blonsky building has an ornate balcony and a sign hanging from the exterior wouldn't work. Corner stores and one story structures, it wouldn't work either. But in the case of Cranford Crossing and in some instances, it would add some marketing value and add some character.

The Cranford Hotel has had one in place forever and it looks just fine.
