Dave, any reason why posts are being deleted? I posted two as new topics and both have been deleted. One, today was titled I have a dream also or too. The other was about 2 of Obamas appointmets that dropped out.

Just taking out the trash.

Cut & pasted new threads are discouraged. viewtopic.php?f=28&t=196

Nobody comes here to read the email forwards they get anyway from their grandma. Starting a discussion isn't as easy as right clicking 'paste'.

Speaking of questions for Dave - Did you change the settings for the confirmation codes? Lately I've had to enter the code several times before I hit the right one. They seem harder to read.

Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I'm playing around with the confirmation code as we've had a recent spate of spambots coming in as guests. That hasn't happened up until the last few weeks, so I'm testing to see exactly how compromised the confirmation code has become. If it doesn't seem to be helping, I'll restore the settings and figure out another solution.

Also, the spambots that do post as guests tend to drag up really old posts in some kind of a random manner. Even after being deleted, they tend to come back to the same old threads. To solve that I've been locking them as they get dragged up. So if you're looking through the archives and you see locked posts, just know that I'm not making any judgment on them, they're just being targeted by spammers.

just remember that if dave does not like what you say or it goes against his political/sexual beliefs he will either ban you or he will delete what you have to say. just a reminder that this is not an open forum .

whoever thinks it is is sorely mistaken.
remember if you are a republican or conservative be prepared for the wrath of davette and his sidekick sunny.
you have been warned!!

Funny, you don't agree with him and he hasn't banned you...hmmm.
Beneath the town's placid god-fearing exterior lay any number of dark secrets involving sexual attraction and repression, illegitimacy, rape, gossip, intolerance, and class snobbery.

Kind of what I figured but at least he was honest enough to answer. The second one was a cut and paste and would have started a discussion. The first was a link to a story, which is what he asked for. So much for allowing things to be open for dicussion. Seems to be the lib line of thnking, we want free speech but only if you agree with us.

They were all cut & pasted stuff. No links, no original content. I paste everything into google to see if it comes up. It's not brain surgery to come up with something on your own. Everything is open for discussion here, but please be respectful with non-Cranford topics and try to post in existing non-Cranford threads instead of making new ones. There are already existing threads about Obama's failed appointments, so there's no need for more.

That's right. If I felt the way Hammer claims I do, then he'd be long gone. When they're not dominating the discussion here, they'll come and cry that the site run by the Dems or libs or some other nonsense.

There is a need when they are different appointments. But I understand you feelings. Lets try and hide one or two screw-ups and maybe it will not look as bad. And I am not some right wing nut I happen to think both parties SUCK.

Yes, I'm trying to hide Obama's screwed up appointments from the vast audience at CranfordTalk that surely have no access to outside media. Maybe I'm part of Obama's media control syndicate, getting my orders straight from the White House to make Obama's screwups not seem quite so bad to the people of the critical voting bloc of Cranford, NJ. Great theory.

Put all the appointments and all the Obama crap into one thread as long as there's one going. When in doubt, DON'T start a new thread. This is a Cranford site, and while all topics are welcome, you're not welcome to clog up the board with every one of Obama's screw ups or policy decisions every time he sneezes or has a bowel movement (hammer, I'm looking at you). Think more broadly and realize what the site's main purpose is, then you probably won't be complaining about what happens to your posts. Allowing all types of discussion on a site whose main purpose is to serve Cranford is a balancing act. If it makes it easier for you to understand, topics like what we're discussing aren't so much welcomed as they are tolerated.

It is. I try to use that capital to ensure the site remains enjoyable for as many people as possible. At the end of the day, most people come here to read about local meetings, the schools and local sports and activities. There's also a demand to see what locals think about broader national issues. But they don't need the daily news read to them when they can get it from the papers and the evening news.

Maybe because we don't care about Obama. I would rather read about Cranford. Good job Dave.

lol, That's what I was going for. If I canned one thread because it was duplicative and a cut & paste, I certainly wouldn't want to encourage a post about the deleted post. So junk like this loser's post goes into the basement from now on:

Azucar, your attitude reflects the majority here. Cranford first. Some people dabble in both the national stuff and the local stuff, but most of the people that get wrapped up in the national stuff here don't bother/care about the Cranford topics. I don't think it's fair for me to placate/support them at the expense of the local content.

I tend to skip most of the threads about national politics, because I can read the news on my own.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants it to be a local site.

Dave....a person logged in as my name and posted a post which defames me. I would like it removed ASAP. I am a reader not poster and feel this board is getting out of hand.
